But – I am ecstatic – yes, that is the word – to report that the murals at Element Lounge for this month’s CONVICTION art show, are just about complete!

Ian Ross, who just over a week ago, returned to SF from his travels in Italy, – along with Eon 75 and others – have created work that has left me… no, not speechless… BEYOND impressed!

Without much direction from Element Lounge staff, the resulting work speaks loudly and elegantly of hope, energy and spirit.

Orange – as I reported in my last post – is the color in support of Leukemia and Lymphoma research, victims, and their families.

We all hope (the artists and myself), that you will join us this Saturday, at Element Lounge, 7PM – in celebrating spirit and energy of two kinds: First, to commemorate and support the victims that Leukemia and Lymphoma have claimed over the years and second – to immerse yourself in this art experience – reflecting the true urban spirit of San Francisco: eye-catching, somewhat gritty, but always intelligently ahead of the curve.

‘Conviction’ is the monthly art party put on by Guadalupe Jacques and his pals. Some of you may know Lupe from the multitudes of projects he leads from promoting for Daly City Records, to throwing sick dub/electro/ghetto-tech parties, to, well, everything hip and cool. To me though, Lupe is a friend, who is talented, knows what he does, and is super legit.

I ‘m going to give  you more deets as to why this show is sick and why you should attend, but, being the first post, I should introduce myself. Check out sample work from a past show:

Eon 75 - Winter 2010 show

- My name is Alfonzo, I am the Marketing Manager at Element Lounge, I somehow know a lot of people who do cool things, and last year, I lost my brother to this awful monster of a disease: Leukemia. I didn’t know how to deal with the loss of my brother, and I had been in what many would call a dark period earlier this year.

During this  dark period, I just wasn’t liking myself very much. I was in a constant state of wallowing and acting out. So I put a stop to it  and came up with an idea that went a little something like this:

• I work at Element Lounge and coordinate events.
• Lupe does awesome art events, I wonder what he is up to.
• Enough wallowing about my bro, let’s turn a negative into a positive.
• * bright lights and pretty colors in my head* YES! the next art show should be a fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!!!

So there you have it.

This month, ‘Conviction’ supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of San Francisco as your favorite skate/graffiti artists, take over Element’s 40 foot mural, creating a jaw-dropping piece in BRIGHT ORANGE. (The color in support of Leukemia/Lymphoma research and victims/survivors).

The artists and DJ’s involved are über talented and super legit. Many traveling the world inspiring creative minds and getting the masses to think outside their limited perspectives… These guys all have strong followings in their respective scenes and I will be posting bios, samples of work, and other tidbits on here.

Lineup:

• Ian Ross, Max Ehrman (Eon 75), and Jae 54 take over the wall.
• Painting Live: Delvin, Decrepit, Dirty Harry.
• On the decks: Ma Yeah, Wild, Schrobi-Girl, Ground_Control, Freddie Future.

About:

• Saturday June 26, 2010. | Reception 7PM – 9PM |  Element Lounge – 1028 Geary Blvd. San Francisco, CA 94109.
• Artists creating original work, in orange tones in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of San Francisco.
• $5-$10 suggested donation at door. No one turned away for lack of funds.
• The LLS’s mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. (Since the first funding in 1954, LLS has awarded more than $680 million in research funding).

• Cupcakes provided by Chula Camp, Out of Thyme Catering/Chula Productions.

This show, is part healing, part hope, and part super dope art. I hope to see you and your friends there. It will be a mix of hipsters, graffiti kids, art enthusiasts, and my friends, which somehow range from hipsters and fashion kids, to financial district and marina types. Introduce yourself and have a drink, or ten…
